(OP)
I have an Aluminium part which cracked in a brittle fashion from a hole when an insert was put into the hole. This was done at room temperature and the AL6082-T6 was chromic acid anodised. Can Al 6082-T6 crack in a brittle fashion?

RE: Re: Brittle Cracking of Al6082-T6

What was the product form? Plate? Forging? How much time had elapsed between the drilling of the hole and insertion of the bushing?

RE: Re: Brittle Cracking of Al6082-T6

Any details on the environment?  Some aluminum alloys are susceptible to liquid metal embrittlement or SCC.
