Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

(OP)
I am using 2007 Ver 3.0.

When I try to mirror something from a plane into a left or right version in an assembly it doesnt mirror. Instead it rotates.

Also, mirrored is checked but I cannot change the setting to instanced even if I wanted to.

RE: Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

Are you saying that the checkbox in the salmon coloured [b]Selections[/]b area is pre-selected and cannot be de-selected?

The default selection is (usually) an unchecked box in the Selections area (not the yellow area) which means the "Instanced component is used on both sides" option will be used.

cheers

Yes it is preselected to mirrored and cannot be changed. But even though mirrored is selected it doesnt mirror.

Unfortunately my subscription ran out between SP3 and SP4 so I don't have access to the SP4. Renaming the folder the registy didnt work.

What does the "AV" stand for that I need to disable?

But it sounds like this isnt a common problem so I need to reinstall.

Can I save my custom settings? Can I make a copy of my design library then overwrite the default folder in the new install?

RE: Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

SBaugh should be able to confirm this, but I believe you should still be eligible for all the SPs for your current version of SW07.

AV = Anti-Virus

Yes you can save your custom settings. Start > All Programs > SolidWorks > SolidWorks Tools > Copy Settings Wizard.

Your Design Library should be created outside of the SW install folder and the Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations should be used to point to it.

Before you re-install, just confirm that this is what you are seeing but cannot alter;

Thanks,

No, I can change the mirror plane and selection. It's the upper yellow box that I cannot change. Its stuck on mirrored (even though that is the option I want, I thought it was odd that I couldnt change it).

RE: Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

You cannot change the "settings" in the yellow box ... it is just an image showing what the tick represents.
The box next to the actual selection (in the salmon pink area) is the one that is selectable.

You don't need to re-install.

cheers

OK, thanks for clearing that up. The component does not mirror, it rotates.

Instead of:   b | d

I get: p | d

(where | is the plane)

RE: Cannot Mirror Components in an assembly

So, what happens when the little box in the lower (pink) area is NOT selected?

cheers
