Can you copy a lot of files from different assys. and save them with the same numbers but with a suffix. thus retaining the originals that will not be linked.

forgot to add 2007

RE: Copy with suffix

I do this with "Save As".  Perform "Save As" to a top-level assembly (create one if you need to, it doesn't have to be elaborate, just contain all your files).  In the save menu, hit the "References" button and select files to rename.  Use the Find/Replace function to replace ".SLD" with "suffix.SLD".

You can also add prefix or suffix in SW Explorer with Pack-and-Go.

Sorry , I forgot to add there is no assy, just a load of SW files. Getting senile in me old age.

RE: Copy with suffix

Use Pack N Go in SW Explorer.  You can add a prefix or suffix.

RE: Copy with suffix

There's also a XTree Gold clone now available called ZTree (for Windows) that can do that in a second for you.

RE: Copy with suffix

digger2000 ... TheTicks suggestion to create a temporary assy would be the simplest way. You would not need to add mates, just drag and drop the files en masse into a new assy, then use [/b]Pack and Go[/b] or the 'references' method.

Or you could use any of these;
