Forging work ratio

Forging work ratio

Forging work ratio

(OP)
Hi All!

What is work ratio in Forging?
What does a 4:1 work ratio mean?
Any pointers / help ? smile

RE: Forging work ratio

It is ratio of the cross-sectional area before and after forging; sometimes refers to percentage reduction in thickness.

This is very important to understand as fibre (flow) lines have to be developed during forging This fibrous structure provides the necessary strength.
