What kind of resistor is this??

What kind of resistor is this??

Also where can I get them??

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

Looks like a ceramic-coated wirewound, though it could be carbon)... just about any supply house will have these.  Digi-Key, Mouser, Future, etc.

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

I'll defer to Dan, but it looks more like a metal film resistor with a ceramic coating.  It also looks a tad too small to be a 2-W resistor

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

If you can sacrifice one, breaking with a hammer or sanding on a belt sander will revwal the internal construction.

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

If you have any clue to what its intended purpose is, then just buy a resistor that does what it is supposed to do. Some reverse engineering often helps...

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

Those grey resistors are "power oxide". Cheaper than wire-wound and more power than metal film.

This is LED driver for the LED tail light on the car...
I have another set of PCB that has similar resistor and it said 2w right on the resistor..
It's same size 56ohm J 2w right on the resistor....

I was wondering what is the J stands for??

RE: What kind of resistor is this??

J is the tolerance code. J corresponds to 5%. Agree with logbook - looks like a small metal oxide resistor.
