Minimum Tensile Strength / Ultimate Stress in tube with t< 3/16"
Minimum Tensile Strength / Ultimate Stress in tube with t< 3/16"
(OP)
Hello,
For ASTM A513 tube I know that when the thickness, t, is >3/16" the Ultimate Tensile Strength, Fu, is 58 ksi (Manual of Steel Construction - Allowable Stress Design, 9th Addition). But for the life of me I can't find the value for when t< 3/16". I'm searching for steel with a Fy = 32ksi. If anyone knows the Fu or can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't see any grades where the strength is a function of the wall thickness.
