Mesh size verification

Mesh size verification

Mesh size verification

(OP)
I have read a document that stated: the mesh density of the FEA shall be sufficiently fine to allow accurate resolution of stress and strain levels in critical regions of the structure, and shall be verified using the guildlines provide in th "NAFEMS Finite Element Primer"

Does anyone know what the doucument covers, and what the guildlines releated to this? Is it worth that I spend £60 of my own moeny of buying this?

RE: Mesh size verification

It depends what the document is you've read. If it's part of a QA procedure then it's probably worth getting to make sure you are following the guidelines as an audit would pick that out. Where I've worked in the past that had strict QA procedures it was rare to do mesh verification as it was deemed sufficient that an experienced person had performed the analysis and the results had been verified and checked in some way. Others will argue you need to do 2 or 3 runs to see if you have convergence with finer meshes though.
