I work at a nickel concentrator and I am in the process of replacing several componets in my thickeners due to corrosion issues. When i replace these part i will make them out or 316 ss instead of mild steel, but i also want to apply some sort of protective coating or paint to further extend the compoents life. Can anyone suggest a certain manufacturer or a certain product that we can apply oursleves afther the installation is complete.

If you use stainless don't coat them.  Any small coating defect or failure can lead to localized crevice corrosion.

I would suggest that you look at using 2205 instead of 316.  Today there isn't much price difference and 2205 is much stronger and more corrosion resistant.

Ddurdle,

I think that it would be necessary to know exactly what's the fluid and operating conditions before you decide what kind of material and if you need also to coat.
Did you do a failure analysis to determine the cause of the corrosion of the carbon steel (mild steel)?

I agree with strider6.  The information for service condition and other components are not enough to select the materials with/without the coating.  

DSS instead of 316 SS may be applicable for this component if the corrosion mechanism is chloride driven severe pitting or SCC and/or erosion issue.   
However 316 SS may be more recommendable at room temperature (<60-80C) in mild chloride environment because of good weldability and maintainable material.  The coating on 316 SS is also considerable cif there is a good maintenance program.  
Meanwhile CS with coating also may be considerable I agree with strider6.  The information for service condition and other components are not enough to select the materials with/without the coating.
