1 run in a two hole lug
1 run in a two hole lug
(OP)
Just a quick questions... as a rule we purchase the right lugs for the cable (i.e 1 run of cable per phase gets a single lug, 2 runs gets a double, etc).
In the case of some of the 400A disconnects we purchased we received two hole mechanical lugs however, we installed 1 run of cable per phase... the switches are installed and the cable is run...
It is a nightmare to change all the lugs... if the cable is within the range of one hole of the two hole lug is it acceptable to use the one hole only?
Regards,
TULUM

Sure. Either you are not using the lug or disconnect to its capacity, or they anticipated possibilty of additional cable to correct voltage drop.
Either way your lug, load and cable will be perfectly happy.

Torque & loctite or completly remove the unused set screw.
