Hi there, I'm working for an architectural precast firm in GTA(Ontario) at my first year.

Since I am a freshman for this industrial, may I ask some entry level questions about apc erction?

1) how could it be posible to align all panels erected for a high rise condon (say 50-story)?

2) how could the panels be properly erected on a shear wall (like a stair well wall) as such a limited conection space between wall and panels?

3) I estimated 12 panels for a erection day (around 60sf/ea, high rise condon project), but finally, my site manager reported# much more less than I expected, sometimes 8, even 6 a day (8hours shift), company's lossing money on this particular issue...

The panel adjustment for installation is done at the connection points which also are generally designed to take the loads.  The object is to design the connection to minimize hoisting time, ie. speedier erection.

For 50 stories, deflection, shortening and lateral displacement issues can be a problem.

With a single crane 8 to 10 panels a day is not unreasonable once the hiccups are worked out.

Plumb bob, measuring tape, level and transit with skillfull use can align a fifty story building.  Panels have small gaps between which can be caulked.  the gaps give toleration for creep/deflection.  Connection plates have very forgiving dimensions, i.e. 4" x 6" embed plate for a three inch strap connection with six linear inches of weld.
