PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

(OP)
I jumped from SP2.2 to 4.0 & now my VAULT is not showing in my FILE EXPLORER.
Should I stop & restart the VAULT now?

RE: PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

Did you restart/reboot your pc after you upgraded? Was virus protection turned off when you upgraded?

Is the PDMWorks add-in enabled in SolidWorks Explorer?  Make sure it is added in...

I have rebooted.

Virus protection was ON during the upgrade. I have been told repetedly that it would not be a problem... by my IT support. But this might be the first time it has been.

I have the VAULT in SolidWorks Explorer... jut not in SolidWorks. Now it is not on the ADD-INs list in SolidWorks. That was the first place I looked.

Excuse me while I walk down the block for a sub.

RE: PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

Tate,
Is it an admin image or a local install? If it's an admin image, the batch file to install Explorer may not have the variable set correctly or it got messed up somehow.
From what I've heard, SW saying to turn off your virus protection is a CYA thing. I can't turn off my virus protection at work and have never had it cause any issues with installs. The statement came from instances where certain virus protection builds caused problems. Kind of like drug disclaimers: may cause irritability, drowsiness, bladder control problems, etc...

RE: PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

Sometimes SolidWorks causes irritability (why did my views change during publishing?), drowsiness (someday my large assembly will rotate...zzzz), bladder control problems (I just HAVE to get this back in the vault in case it crashes!), etc.

Remove PDM explorer from you PC then reinstall. We have to do this every upgrade.

Tate,
If you're using '07, PDM is a part of SW Explorer...

So I should remove & reinstall SOLIDWORKS EXPLORER then?
I'm looking for a program called PDM EXPLORER & not finding it.

I'll try that before a clean uninstall & reinstall... which is what I'm now told to do.

RE: PDM gone from FILE EXPLORER after SP instal

No do not do a clean uninstall & reinstall. On a new machine here, we always have to delete SolidWorks Explorer then reinstall SolidWorks Explorer.
