H1 FRF Estimator Derivation

H1 FRF Estimator Derivation

I'm looking for a good derivation of the H1 FRF estimator.  I have several modal books, but I haven't been able to really understand it from looking at them.  They kinda glossed over it and just showed the equation.  Haven't found a good one online either, but I have no doubt it's there somewhere.  Does anybody know of a good (preferably online) source of a derivation?

Have you got the B&K book? I'm pretty sure that goes into it.

The idea is simple enough - which of your two spectra is likely to be noisiest in the area of interest?

Thanks Greg.  What book, exactly, would that be?  I don't have it.

Either "Frequncy Analysis" or the advanced modal one. Or look for a paper by Harvard Volt from SDRC on the HV estimator, which gives a potted history of estimators.

I think the LMS modal reference books also discuss choice of estimator.

You should also be able to find it at the University of Cincinnati Sructural Dynamics Research Lab's (SDRL) website.  If you go to www.sdrl.uc.edu  and go to the academic course info section there should be course notes for all courses.  It derives H1, H2, and Hv.

Oh, and if your data is 'lab quality' then don't expect miracles.
