NX 4 Vs. NX 5

NX 4 Vs. NX 5

NX 4 Vs. NX 5

(OP)
Both NX 4 and NX 5 are available for me to learn, I do not know with wich one to start? what do you think?  I know the obvious option is NX 5 But is it really better than NX4?

Thanx

Andres

RE: NX 4 Vs. NX 5

Since there are significant changes to such areas as dialog layout and standards, as well as a completely new Assembly Constraint scheme, if this is your first foray into NX that you opt for the latest and greates and go for NX 5.  BTW, even if I wasn't an employee of Siemens UGS I would probably be giving you this advise based on just what I would have seen of UGS NX 5 if I were still a customer.

RE: NX 4 Vs. NX 5

Say John, speaking of the new Assy Constraint scheme, how does one enable it?  Our install is using the old one by default.

Thanks,

Ed

RE: NX 4 Vs. NX 5

Under Customer Defaults, Assemblies -> Positioning.  Or if you wish to overide this on a case-by-case basis, you can also open a session and then go to Preferences -> Assemblies and at the bottom of the dialog accept either Positioning Constraints or Mating Conditions.
