i am looking for sectional properties of sigma type pressed steel purlin rails are there any good sites out there where this can be attained?

RE: Properties of Roof purlins

These will vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

Also these thin sections work differently to normal steel sections and have a large number of potential buckling failure modes.

Best to try and get all the necessary strength charts directly from the manufacturer.

RE: Properties of Roof purlins

I do alot of work with CFS (Cold Formed Steel), which is what you're talking about.  CSD's advice is spot-on.  You don't want to try and calculate the strengths yourself.

Good luck,

But the same people who give you the load tables, etc. will be able to give you the dimensions and section properties, which you may need for other reasons than strength.

One more point,

On these thin sectons, you should never bolt into the flanges always into the web (the vertical part of the C).
