API Line Pipe thread

API Line Pipe thread

API Line Pipe thread

(OP)
Hi,

API Line Pipe threaded pipes are used with different standardisized wall thicknesses per diameter (you can use any pipe which is standardisized according to API 5L, I think).
-But what diameter (inside and outside diameter) should be used for the Line Pipe coupling? Are there as well different wall thicknesses for the couplings?
-Where can I find the necessary make-up torque for these connections?
-Are there any tables with these values?

Kind Regards,

Jeroen.

RE: API Line Pipe thread

Jeroen,

Why do you want to use threaded connections so large?
In what industry do they use that?
You make me curious.

greetings

Jaap

These kind of connections are used in offshore and pipeline applications (drill pipes, transportation lines and tension legs- so called 'theters'). This connections are used as an alternative for welded pipes because they are more easy to connect at sea and you won't have weld defects. And in drill pipes it is important to have pipes that can be used several times screwing and unscrewing them.

Greetings,

Jeroen
