Is this a conflict between ANSYS and SolidWorks licenses?

Is this a conflict between ANSYS and SolidWorks licenses?

Is this a conflict between ANSYS and SolidWorks licenses?

(OP)
I'm trying to use ANSYS 9.0 in a modal simulation. My study object is a mechanical component created with SolidWorks 2006 SP0.0. I've instaled first ANSYS, made sure that it was working and then instaled SolidWorks. But after doing that (installing SW) ANSYS doesn't open and displays this dialog box:

-------------------------------------------
Product: ANSYS Multiphysics (feature 'ane3fl')

Checkout failed for the above product.
FLEXlm error message:

No SERVER lines in license file (-13, 128:10061 "")

Servers/license files searched:
1055@user-6d8c7f271c
6666@user-6d8c7f271c
C:\ProgramFiles\SolidWorks\COSMOS\License\FLEXlm\license.dat
C:\FOLDER1\license.dat

(For additional licensing debug details, set the ANS_FLEXLM_DEBUG environment variable to '1' before running this product. For maximum licensing debug details , set this environment variable to '2')
-----------------------------------------------

Dialog box ends here.

"1055@user-6d8c7f271c" stands for the system variable used by ANSYS

"6666@user-6d8c7f271c" stands for the system variable used by SolidWorks

"C:\ProgramFiles\SolidWorks\COSMOS\License\FLEXlm\license.dat" is the directory holding the SW license file

"C:\FOLDER1\license.dat" is the directory holding the ANSYS license file

I've created a new environment variable as this popping dialog box recommends, but nothing changes. Could anyone help me or tell me what to do?

Thank you very much.

RE: Is this a conflict between ANSYS and SolidWorks licenses?

Hello,

I can't help you, but I had the same problem with Ansys and ProEngeneer. Since I could not solve it, I had to uninstall ProEngeneer.

Alex

RE: Is this a conflict between ANSYS and SolidWorks licenses?

Hi,
it looks as the FlexLm is in total confusion about which service to call, i.e. also which license to read. It seems that during the installation the FlexLm services were shut down, then the SW installer went over the Ansys settings with its own.
I think you can resolve the situation by entering the FlexLm tools and reconfigure both the services. You need TWO services, remember, you can NOT merge two services into one or merge the license files. Give each service a distinct name.

Hope it can help... I unfortunately can't be more precise just relying on my memory... I'd have to look at a FlexLm Tools but I can't do that on my workstation.

Regards
