heat transfer oil as newtonian test fluid

heat transfer oil as newtonian test fluid

heat transfer oil as newtonian test fluid

(OP)
I am searching for a suitable viscous fluid for heat transfer experiments. The requirements are as follows:
- It has to be Newtonian
- The properties (viscosity, conductivity, heat capacity and density) have to be known as a function of temperature.
- ! dynamic Viscosity at 50°C should be about 30cP

I am focusing so far on Heat transfer oils, Oils from Paratherm are about right but due to the high delivery costs I would rather prefer someone who could deliver from Europe (We are based in the UK)
I checked oild from solutia and shell but none fit the criteria. Does anyone know another supplier.

Or does anyone know of other fluids which fit the criteria?

RE: heat transfer oil as newtonian test fluid

If you are after a heat-transfer fluid probably the following article may be of help:

Get fluent about heat transfer fluids by Green. Larsen and Pauls from Monsanto. ChE/February 1989, p. 90+.

IFstuff, just water would not have the viscosity required, I am looking for something 50 times more viscous compared to water. I will have a look inti PAO's, but I am not sure whether they ar newtonian. Fluorinert seams to have more or less the same viscosity as water, therefore not usefull

25362, thanks for the hint but it is difficult for me to get hold of this article

The point is that we are developing internals which improve the convective heat transfer coefficient for applications where no other liquid except viscous liquids can be used. In order to test the performance of this internals we need to test them with appropriate test fluids.
