Hydrostatic forces

(OP)
Need help determining hydrostatic forces from 15 feet of water on a fish window.

RE: Hydrostatic forces

I see that link is adding the pressure due a given depth of water to atmospheric pressure.  So even with no water pressure it returns a value 101.3kN/m^2, thats gonna be some thick glass.

RE: Hydrostatic forces

Do you want to use feet or metres?

Every foot of depth is 62.4 psf more pressure.  So 15 feet is 936 psf.

In metric units, would 4.572 metres, so pressure is 46 kPa.

Of course, this is only at the bottom.  Pressure varies linearly.

RE: Hydrostatic forces

IRStuff, precisely.  I just didnt want the OP plugging values into the website and using the figure as the applied load on the glass.  Unless of course there is a complete vacuum on the opposite side.
