Gear inspection

(OP)
Hi, I want to mesure on a straight teeth gear the over pin diameter.

Are there formula to find this only with the number of teeth and the module ?

Please help me....

thx

RE: Gear inspection

A manufactured gear is never the same as the theoretical gear. Therefore, you can not have the dimension over pins given just the number of teeth and the module. The oposite it true, given the number of teeth, the module and the dimension over pins will give the actual tooth thickness at the standard pitch diameter. This is the reason for using pins to measure a gear.

I suggest that you get a book on gear design and study the issue.
