Wellhead Equip: Low temp material spec ?

Wellhead Equip: Low temp material spec ?

(OP)
Can someone tell me if there is an API spec that governs what material must be using for a structure that mounts to a producing wellhead that will operate at low temperature(-40C)?  I have API 4F that covers the structure but it makes no mention of material requirements for low temperature.  I recall from a long time ago replacing a 4140 wellhead component with A350 LF2 for the impact strength but I'm not sure what spec that was based on. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

ISO 10423, or if you really, really must stay American, API 6A with Annex O instituted.

Or, if your structure isn't within the scope of 6A, then ISO 13626 SR1 with material capable of meeting a required impact energy (possibly 27J) at, or below, the minimum design temperature of the structure.  There aren't specific material specification recommendations, it's up to someone to select an appropriate material specification to meet the requirements.

Thank you for the response!  I have 6A now and am reviewing it.

Greatly appreciated

As well as the -27J average value in the Charpy tests as SJones correctly says, you should ask that the failure mode at that temperature be plastic- specify that the Charpy Transition Temperature should be below your design temperature.
