RE: % of reinforcement in column

Are you saying that you have 50 columns that are about 27.5" x 27.5" with 12-#5 bars (converted to English units), which gives you a reinforcing ratio of approximately 0.5%?  Is that your question?

RE: % of reinforcement in column

If I did the metric conversions correctly, it sounds like you have about 1/2% of longitundinal reinforcing in the piers. Is this correct?

ACI has a provision to go down to 1/2% if the piers are larger than they need to be to resist the forces. What is the governing code? Does the pier, as reinforced, have enough capacity to resist the forces? Do the longitudinal bars have sufficient ties?

iam very sorry because i make confuse for all of you

the columns is safe  to carry the load but i notes that the % of reinforement is not enough less than 50%
we use ACI for design
the columns have ties diamter 10 mm 3 set.
my question is

is that sutiation is critial and we need repair or not ?

thanks

RE: % of reinforcement in column

1/2% is allowed if the strength is sufficient using 1/2 of Ag.  (Thus 1% of the area required is 1/2% of Ag).

RE: % of reinforcement in column

If the concern is that you're actually under 0.5%, check your design (neglecting the steel) against the ACI provisions for structural plain concrete (318-05 chp 22).  If it works as SPC, the fact that you actually have some reinforcement there is immaterial.  If the question is whether 0.5% is acceptable, above answers are correct.

RE: % of reinforcement in column

If the geometry of your pedestal matches the description of pedestal in ACI-318, then you may not need any reinforcing at all.
