NX4 DRAFTING:

NX4 DRAFTING:

NX4 DRAFTING:

(OP)
Hello All,
Great one, this. I have a large plate with 121 holes in circular array. Attempting to put a Full Bolt Circle Utility Symbol on this array, the function maxes out at 100 centerlines. Pop-up error message says: Maximum number of associated objects for the centerline has been reached."

Is there a way to increase the number of centerlines this function will create?

Thanks,
'ziner

RE: NX4 DRAFTING:

In UGS NX 5, i don't get an error message, it just automatically creates the circular bolt circle symbol with 100 entries.  What you will have to do is make 2 symbols, selecting perhaps only 60 or so holes for each one.  While it will be true that there will be two symbols, one superimposed on top of the other, unless you use a pen-plotter, you'll never notice the difference.

Thanks for responding, John. I should have been more precise: the error occurs after the function automatically creates the centerline, when I try to edit the existing 100 point line to add one more. I tried superimposing another on top of the existing one, but the breaks at the center of the holes are obscured by the previous bolt circle line. However, if there is no way to extend the range of the symbol beyond 100, then that seems to be the only recourse.

Thanks again,
'ziner

Update- Here's what I discovered:
1. I can get a full bolt circle of 121 holes by using 2 partial bolt circles; BUT,

2. To get a partial bolt circle with a partial circle line, pick the hole centers in counter clockwise order.

3. For a partial bolt circle, if you pick the hole centers in clockwise order you will get the full circle line.
