Vibratory Testing

Does anyone know of a good lab that performs Vib Testing in
Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania or New Jersey?

Thanks
Adam

RE: Vibratory Testing

We will be doing testing next month at:

National Technical Systems
36 Gilbert Street South
Tinton Falls, NJ 07701
Tel: (732) 936-0800

I have never used them before but the quote was reasonable and in your area. If you aren't restricted to a certain area I have used a test house in FL with good success.

RE: Vibratory Testing

I have used NU lab for both RTCA DOD-160 and Mil-STD-167 vib testing.

NU Laboratories Inc.
312 Old Allerton Rd.
Annandale NJ.
Telephone: 908-713-9300
Fax: 908-713-9001

They are similiarly priced to NTS.

RE: Vibratory Testing

ANDY, near Pittsburgh.

UNISYS used to do contract testing in King of Prussia, don't know if they still do.

A bit further afield, Dayton T. Brown on Long Island.

Thanks gents for the recommendations.
Here are several we are looking at:

American Testing Laboratory - S. Hackensack NJ
Clark Dynamic Testing Lab - Jefferson Hills Pa
ESSC Test Lab - Cincinnati OH
Datasyst - Delafield WI
NU Labs - Annandale NJ

I found the Dayton T. Brown lab but the boss
would rather not venture out to Long Island.

RE: Vibratory Testing

MET-Labs in Baltimore Maryland also has a decent facility for vibration testing.

RE: Vibratory Testing

What type of vib testing are you looking for?  Are you looking for standardized testing to meet some spec, or are you looking for a more comprehensive study?

Typically we test a sweeping sine wave of 10-200 hz at 1-5Gs, for a period of time per axis. I am not sure which data we are looking for exactly, but one of the things we do look for is when does a component break. Of course in some cases, this may be a lot higher than 15Gs.

The parts being tested are electronic assemblies.

I have found 2 labs in NJ, 1 in PA, and 1 in VA that are rather close. I am waiting on the Baltimore lab mentioned earlier. If the Baltimore Lab comes in with a good price, we are likely to go there because of travel times.

I will post some info of the labs when we decide.

Regards,
Adam

RE: Vibratory Testing

I do not think Unisys is around anymore.  The EMI lab is closed.

BAE on county line Road in Hatfield PA used to do outside testing.  (215) 996-2737
