Good Morning All,
I have a STEP file that was sent from our customer and imported into SW. I saved it as a part and noticed the file size was 117MB, WOW! I realized I needed to reduce it to use in my assembly because I really don't need all the details. So, I sent about 45 minutes cleaning it up and saved it as a new model (keeping the old one intact). How come the file has increased in size? It's now 137MB!

If you cleaned it up (removed detail) by adding history-based features it makes sense that the file size increased.  Try exporting a parasolid of your simplified model and re-importing.

Did you export it to Parasolid and then re-import it?  If you don't do that, all the "cleanup" you did will be simply adding on additional features to the initial import.  If you can roll back your changes, that means you haven't actually removed any detail. You've just covered it up.

WOW 137MB to 38MB. The three of you get stars!
