Stainless steel bolts cut resistance

(OP)
Hello people!

Can somebody help-me to find a comparsion table with "cut" resistance between steel and stainless steel bolts?

I´m studing a fix solution and would like to check these information to take the right decision,

Thanks in advance

RE: Stainless steel bolts cut resistance

I believe you mean "shear" instead of "cut".  The ultimate shear strength can be estimated from the ultimate tensile strength by using the following relation: ? ~ 0.6 · ?UTS.  Most stainless steel bolts are relatively low strength, but some companies like Bufab Stainless offer high strength stainless steel bolts.  Use the following links for more information:

RE: Stainless steel bolts cut resistance

The greek characters did not appear correctly in my previous post.  Ultimate shear strength is ~ 0.6*UTS where UTS is ultimate tensile strength.
