Explicit-contact
Explicit-contact
(OP)
Hello,
I try to simulate simple contact models in explicit solver.
My model:
1. Rigid flat surface(400*400 mm). Solid cube (100*100*100) drops(with 4000 mm/sec) on rigid surface. I have specified general contact. In my case dropping solid does not make any contact with rigid surface and it simply passes thru it. More or less same model is available in abaqus example file. But i could not find what is the mistake i did in specifying contact(interaction).
Any one can help. Thanks in advance.
regards,
fembig

RE: Explicit-contact
I assume you also have *CONTACT INCLUSIONS, ALL EXTERIOR in the step?

Thanks for your help.
I am using CAE. How to check surface normal and modify it. I am searching help, no success so far.

RE: Explicit-contact
In Viewer / Visualisation module you can plot the normals from "Options > Common > Normals" then check Show Normals and select on Surfaces.
If the normal is the wrong way, I'm sure there is a method for flipping it back the other way in the Interaction module.

RE: Explicit-contact
So, normal direction is ok. What else could be wrong?

RE: Explicit-contact
thanks for your help. It worked fine in other system. I got a result what i wanted to see(jumping of solid block after hitting rigid deck.
Seems to be some bug in abaqus installation or other mistakes (by me), which i have to find yet.
