electrical routing (wiring harness, no refs)
electrical routing (wiring harness, no refs)
(OP)
I have been tasked with creating wiring harness drawings from a given example of that harness.
so for my models i dont have a reference to run the wires from and to. I am just looking for the best way that i should go about creating these drawings.
I have looked at simply creating drawings without assemblies however i then need to specify the wire and wire lengths etc.. in the BOM.
any suggestions would be much appreciated.
thanks

RE: electrical routing (wiring harness, no refs)
This is what we do here in our R & D department. Since we don't have SW routing add-in, this is our method.
Engineering Design:
Put the connectors were the need to go in your design in a SW assembly.
Example:
Engineering Detail Drawing:
Use sketch geometry to drawing the wirings in 2D views:
Example:
The folks in the assemble lab will build an actual harness to this, and then give the engineers the wire lengths to build an interconnect wiring list.
Example:
Other SW eng-tip users may have a different approach. I hope this helps,

You can also get wiring lengths for your method. I really don't have time to do this procedure. Plus the guys and gals (mostly the gals) would comment and say I didn't have enough wire length added. And you don't want to mess with women. LOL!
