Jog dimension line
Jog dimension line
(OP)
Can I jog a dimension line, as I do with ordinate dimensions?

RE: Jog dimension line
a jog is IMHO only possible for a radius dimension placed
on the *inside* of an arc. When applied to a radius dimension
that is placed on the outside SE will flip it to be on the
inside. It can be applied while placing the dimension or afterwards.
- select SmartDimension
- select the arc
- activate Jog in the ribbon bar (2nd button right from the
scale pull-down
- move(!) the mouse away from the arc to get the distance
you want and when satisfied to one(!) LMB
- now move(!) the mouse either left or right an down
when satisfied do one LMB again to terminate the
dimension
- optional: click on the dimension text to move it
to adjust the left/right offset grab the line not the handle
and move it. To lengthen one of the lines or to change the
shape grab one of the handles.
You have to play a litle bit with it -- it's not very intuitive
Note: the Jog feature will stick with SmartDimension after selecting
it so don't forget to deactivate it when no longer applicable

RE: Jog dimension line
Yes, It works fine with radial and coordinate dimensions. My question is: Is it possible with linear dimension line?

RE: Jog dimension line
Alt+Drag will change the parent geometry and the value
Ctrl+Alt+Drag will drag the handle but will leave the value
untouched
Neither will put a job in one of the dimension lines which is
not possible for normal linear dimensions

RE: Jog dimension line
I don't want to change dimension origins. Is it possible to jog dimension line?
It is similar to as we do for leaders, radial dim. and coordinate dimensions
