remove stainless steel cladding from carbon steel shell of a vessel
remove stainless steel cladding from carbon steel shell of a vessel
(OP)
Problem:A carbon steel distillation column'spot has a stainless steel (304L) liner (1/16") to protect the pot from Acedic acid corrosion. The liner was plug welded to the carbon steel shell of the pot. The problem is some of liner have been broken off from the shell and flamable materials have been got to the space between the liner and the shell.
What technique I can use to remove the liner? Are there any contractor that do this kind of services?

Not knowing the physical layout of your vessel abrasive water jet cutting might be the answer. I would contact Jet Edge and discuss this and see if they could give some guidance or a possible contact with someone who does field work.

Note: The vessel is 10ft OD, and water cut may cut through the liner and shell also.
