Anyone know some quick steps to make a gear and gear threads?

RE: gears

sorg,

You don't by chance have a copy of that gear model that you can post elsewhere, do you?  I can download the model but get an error when trying to open it in SWX 2006 and 2007.

RE: gears

Ditto CBL's comment. I used Gear Trax and loved it! It's got all the standard types of gearing & splines and meets all the industry standards. It even allows you to modify the values for your desired designs. It's pretty inexpensive too!

RE: gears

Did you try Toolbox? It's at right of the Solidworks screen.
If it's not visible, you can add it by following Tools-->Add-Ins from the menu.
Once Toolbox placed at right, you can simply create parts by right clicking and selecting "create part" option.

RE: gears

I'm with CBL and macduff... if you do a fair amount of gear design, GearTrax is a very handy tool.
