Solid Edge and Excel Link

Solid Edge and Excel Link

Solid Edge and Excel Link

(OP)
I use Solid Edge and link Excel data to my SE drawing/model.

Is there a way to automatically extract (link) information from SE to Excel? Typically I want to get dimensions from the drawing into Excel.

Regards
Genie

RE: Solid Edge and Excel Link

Can't test it, but I think if you Copy Link from the SE Variable Table and then Paste Special into the Excel cell with a "link to" option, you'll get the link.

You'll have to look up Excel in the help file.  That should provide plenty of information.

RE: Solid Edge and Excel Link

Hi,

yes that works but there is a glitch:
In case SE is not started when you open the .xls, Excel will ask
you whether to update or not. Pressing Yes will start SE in the
background to update its value. Upon .xls close Excel forgets
to close SE as well and thus it's still active.
Trying to open the file that Excel is linked to will result in
a message by SE that the file is write locked just because the
background SE still owns it -- you have to kill the background
SE via TaskManager ...
