Double Precision Executable

Double Precision Executable

(OP)
Dear forum members,

I would appreciate it very much if someone can tell me more about running abq explicit in double precision executable.

I am running a demolding simulation and I come across this message in the sta file:

***WARNING: THE ANALYSIS MAY NEED A LARGE NUMBER OF INCREMENTS (MORE THAN
300000), AND IT MAY BE AFFECTED BY ROUND-OFF ERRORS. RUNNING THE
            DOUBLE PRECISION EXECUTABLE IS RECOMMENDED.

The documentation says that this option will change the default setting of "floating point word lengths of 32 bits" to 64 bits.
My first question is, what does it mean by floating point word?
Next, what are the pros and cons of using this option?

Hope someone can help.

thanks,
jo
