Filler Metal for Welding Nitronic 50 High Strength to 316L

Filler Metal for Welding Nitronic 50 High Strength to 316L

Filler Metal for Welding Nitronic 50 High Strength to 316L

(OP)
What would be the recommended filler metal for joining these two materials?  308L, 316L, 209?  Naturally the strength and corrosion resistance need only be at least that of the 316L.  Any information or links/references would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Filler Metal for Welding Nitronic 50 High Strength to 316L

Welding on Nitronic 50 (22-13-5)High Strength is not recommended due to the loss in strength at the weld. But in your case the resulting affected area will still be as good as the 316L Depending on the environmental exposure You may want to use a 309-Mo filler metal.
