Can someone please explain the reason one would apply an "antimony filled carbon" mechanical seal face?

RE: Purpose for "antimony filled carbon" seal face?

Antimony filled carbon faces are stronger and more rigid than standard carbon faces.  Usually they are used in high pressure applications where superior strength is needed.  They also work well with high viscosity fluids and hydrocarbons because they are resistant to blistering.

Thank you!  Your quick response is greatly appreciated.  This is for a Mycom centrifugal compressor in acid service.

I am now confirming chemical compatibility with the seal manufacturer.
