Sulfur pit steam coil

Normally a lift fitting, or piping arrangement in-lieu, would be used to return condensate up from the coil in the bottom of a tank.

Does the same apply to sulfur pits?
I have no experience of sulfur pits but I would have expected that it does.  Especially because pits tend to be deeper with longer, larger diameter coils than the average tank with bottom coil and top steam trap.

Are lift fittings or equivalent piping layout used in suphur pits steam coils? A nice to have? Essential ?

RE: Sulfur pit steam coil

4Pipes,

Yes, the same condition of condensate lift applies to the sulfur pit heating coils.

The steam trap manufacturers installation recommendations are to use a smaller diameter tube or pipe from the low point up to the inlet of steam trap.  Some installation details have a "siphon" tube inside the riser pipe to trap.

Thanks for the reply.
I would would suspect that the piping designer wouldn't be very popular if the coil failed due to steam hammer induced fatigue or simply was not hot enough.  I've never been in a sulfur pit full of solid sulfur to clear it out. I would guess it is not quite the same as digging beach sand.
