Generating substructures with ABAQUS

Generating substructures with ABAQUS

Generating substructures with ABAQUS

(OP)
Hi all,
I need some advice from you or any kind of literature that you can suggest on how to generate sustructures in Abaqus. For example, you have been given only dimensions of some object, let say simple beam, and you need to create the substructure generation file. Then you create one more substructure in other file, then you "connect" the 2 files for common analysis.
My question is how do you model the substructure and how do you connect both files.

Really apreciate your help,
Zornitsa Borisova

RE: Generating substructures with ABAQUS

Substructuring is discussed in
ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual  ->10.1 Substructuring

Hi xref,
I am using Abaqus 655 and in the Analysis User`s Manual chapter 10.1 is called Overview and chapter 10 is Elastic Mechanical Properties of Materials.

Greetings, Zornitsa

What you mean is actually in the same manual, chapter 7.2.
The problem is that it does`t give me enough information on the generation of substructures. It is too theoretical and I don`t understand how to generate a simple substructure. Examples in this area are difficult.

Also, I can`t understand how to run more than one input file together(e.g., if there are 2 subs generated in 2 different files)

Thanks once more, Zornitsa
