Does anyone have a link to structural engineering terms and definitions?. please help.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

what type of terms and definitions?

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

(OP)
Like what is stringer, guardrail etc components of any structure.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

(OP)
looking for definitions of terms found in specifications for steel , concrete...

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

as far as expressions as 'stringer', 'guardrail' are concerned etc I would refer you to handbooks on ship structures.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

(OP)
These are the terms in referance to commercial steel structures like factory buildings...i think the definitions might be slightly different for ship structures .what do u think?.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

Searching Google on "civil engineering dictionary" brought up some promising-looking links.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

Several years ago, I purchased a Dictionary of Architectural and Construction (2nd Edition) Edited by Cyril M. Harris.  It contains a definition for stringer and guard rail, among others.  Perhaps this book will help.

sorry.. I have'nt used this much. so I could nt realise I was posting it at a wrong place.

RE: Structural Engg Definitions

Sorry, my mistake.

Basepoint coordinates is just setting the base of your grid, not the nodes.

To insert nodes go to top menu, geometry, nodes. Then enter each set of node coordinates at a time(for each end of each member).

You will then need to specify the members that go between the nodes in a separate menu.
