Boiler Corner Seal Arrangement

Boiler Corner Seal Arrangement

Boiler Corner Seal Arrangement

(OP)
Hello, I searching for some input regarding corner seal arrangements for boilers.  Currently our backpass design has economizer side wall riser tubes (membrane) and superheat rear wall (also membrane) Our economizer sidewalls definitely see some subcooling, and currently the corner seal is seal plate welded membrane to membrane with refractory in front.  So as you could imagine we have problems with the temperature differential causing leaks on the cold side of the tubes at the seal plates.  Has anyone run into this and what designs have you come up with to compensate, such as a slip seal arrangement.

Thanks,
Derek

Do you have a picture?

Yes I do have pictures but not sure how to attach them to this website. Not sure if this is going to work, but this is a top down view of the corner arrangment:

There is a 4 inch tangent to tangent seal plate fillet welded and then refractory on the hot and cold side of the seal plate.    Thanks!!! :)

I would use a plate attached to each tube but not both. Lap them, may want to slot edges.

Silica batt or blanket,Kaowool,Insuwool may work best.
