Does anyone know where I can get some wire diagrams for Maytag electric motors?

There on the back panel of the washing machine.

alright, fair enough. Just wish I had the washing machine now

RE: Maytag Motor Diagrams

If they're standard single phase induction motors you can just make wiring guesses until they work.  Of course don't stare at a particular attempt wondering if it will stop humming and actually turn.  If it doesn't work as expected instantly - next guess.

The older motors can reverse, one direction is agitate and the other is spin.  Capacitor run.  I have one somewhere.

what motors can you use for generators?

RE: Maytag Motor Diagrams

No Maytags!!
Permanent magnet motors.
Or three phase induction motors in special circumstances.

Any motor if you lack any real sense.  I follow another board where they rewind motors and put magnets in the armature.  To me that is an enormous waste of time when there are enough ready made motors that will generate electricity. Not to mention that the tolerances will be so poor that it won't generate what you expect. Go to a furnace guy and tell him you will pay $10 for a GE variable speed fan motor.  These are about 10 years old and the electronics are failing on them.  These are a great permanent magnet 3 phase generator.

Alright thanks for the insight.
Had gotten a few Maytag motors free and wanted to know what everybody thought the worth of them was.
Evidently not too much. High Torque Fan maybe.
