Launch a SW file from a Word Doc?

Launch a SW file from a Word Doc?

Launch a SW file from a Word Doc?

(OP)
I have a Word doc that covers our departments standards and best practices. Ccan I add a link or shortcut to a SW model so I can then launch the SW model directly from Word. Is this possible?

RE: Launch a SW file from a Word Doc?

OK, so I thought I figured it out!!!
When I'm in a regular word Doc I create a hyperlink to a Solid Model part file and it works just fine.
But I'm actually trying to do this within the part models Design Journal Doc file. I created my help document in the Journal in my default PRTDOT file, so when I create a new part file the journal contains the helper doc stuff. But the hyperlink to the supporting part model does not work in the Journal. Is this because I'm already in a part model file with the Journal Doc? Is there a way to make this work?

Thanks
Tom

In MS Word go to Insert > Odject > Create from File.

I suggest have a link to an eDrawings file rather than an actual part file. It would open quicker and non SW users can look at it. The doc may be smaller also.
