Hello,

I am a newly certified ISO9000 Lead Auditor at an american valve corp. We are certified here in the US where we do sales, some testing and rework, and shpping. We are establishing an assembly area with QA/QC testing located near to our overseas vendor. Everything at this plant is owned and controlled by us and the QA management are our employees. Any failed valves or parts get sent back to the vendor (across the street).

We will be applying for API 598 certification at this new facility and we would also like to use our ISO 9000 certification. I am wondering if we can use our existing ISO 9000 certification over there? Also I'm wondering about API Q1. Do we need Q1 or 9000 to get 598 cert? And if so how indepth will the QSM audit be since we already have ISO 9000. Should I be preparing for a full QSM audit?

We are using Lloyd's for the 598 certification, and if need be they will be performing the ISO or Q1 audit simultaneously. We used Moody for US certification and I am wondering if that will effect the extent of the audit, at least in relation to ISO9000.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: ISO 9000, APIQ1, API 598,

Hi valveNerd, I think you can use you USA ISO 9001 certificate. And I nerve heard API 598 certificate. API 598 is only a test STD. Not same as API 600, API 6D, API 6A and so on.
I think you can apply related API certification in USA and then you can use it on your products. It's same as OEM, Vendor supply finished valves to you and you control and sales the valves in USA. And then you can put API certification logo and NO on your nameplate.
It's very commom in China now. Even you can share the API or CE certification together with the vendor. I know something about that as our company do the same as above which I mentioned.
Hoping this can help you.
