Insert .dxf

Okay, I am trying to insert a .dxf file on a face to extrude. I go through the import wizard and see the image with no problem. I hit the finish button and I get nothing on the face. I have tried just inserting it onto a plane on an empty part but still get a blank sketch. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Insert .dxf

What do you see if you open it in DWGeditor?

cheers

RE: Insert .dxf

(OP)
I see the image that I want to import with no problem.

RE: Insert .dxf

Try copy and paste from DWGeditor into a SW sketch.

cheers

RE: Insert .dxf

When opening the DWG file are you using the options to;

Import to a new part
As model
To a 2D sketch

cheers

RE: Insert .dxf

(OP)
Yes to all of the options you have stated. I will try the copy and paste suggestion.

Copy and pasting from DWGeditor didn't work, either.

RE: Insert .dxf

Can you upgrade to SP3.1 ?

cheers

RE: Insert .dxf

I can. That's my next step.

RE: Insert .dxf

Open the DXF within SW into a dwg or part. Then copy/paste the geometry onto the current part.

RE: Insert .dxf

I copy & paste all the time from DWG Editor with no problems.....well other than the geometry in dwg/dxf format can be problematic with line segments on top of other line segments.

RE: Insert .dxf

The problem I am having is that the dxf isn't opening into a new part for me to copy onto the existing one. I get the preview to show up, but when I hit the "Finish" button, I get no result.

RE: Insert .dxf

Have you updated the SP yet?

cheers

RE: Insert .dxf

(OP)
I just did, and that seemed to do the trick. I was able to open it onto the surface and extrude from there. Only issue now is that with all those splines, the file gets big. Oh well, at least the customer gets what they want. Thanks, all, for your help.
