Pond Liners

Pond Liners

Pond Liners

(OP)
I am having to install a liner in a pond/water feature that is to have a reinforced earth wall around the perimeter. Can someone tell me how to handle the liner edges, providing a leak-proof seal at the wall? The pond measures about one acre in size.

RE: Pond Liners

The best and most reliable way is to make the connection above the water level, using a batten strip if you have a rigid perimeter wall. The following site shows a typical batten detail:

RE: Pond Liners

We'll use an anchor trench around the edge of the pond to secure a pvc liner.

Make sure to take into account if the liner is UV resistant. If not, you'll need to design the pond in such a way that you can cover the liner.

RE: Pond Liners

so much out there to use. we've gone with a 45 mil EPDM and trench it in like atook says for some of our small fire ponds.  We would use a HDPE boot with stainless steel straps for penetrations (dry hydrants). We haven't partially lined any ponds as i assume you're thinking about so i wouldn't know about anything to look out for in pond bottom trench anchoring, but i'd bet there is a red flag to catch down there.  we cover the liner w/ soil for protection and I've heard that it's hard to walk or stand on a 3:1 sloped wet/underwater liner.

cheers,

RE: Pond Liners

I've used Bentafix... you might do a search.  Also to replace waterbars...
