Detecting doube stacked parts

Detecting doube stacked parts

Detecting doube stacked parts

(OP)
I currently have an application where I am unloading 4 columns of part from a rack and loading them to a transfer system where they are indexed one at a time into a press.  The parts are roll formed and there have been reports where two parts, from the same column, are picked up by the robot.  I am investigating methods of detecting them and am considering the use of a pixel counter or a very lo cost vision system, such as a Cognex Checker. Fortunately the is aboub 1mm separation of the part so detecting should be pretty simple.  Does anyone have experience with these sort os systems, I would like caveats and ay other helpful information that you may have.
