Design Code for PE storage tanks

Design Code for PE storage tanks

Design Code for PE storage tanks

(OP)
I am purchasing two 8000 USG Xlinked PE chemical storage tanks and wonder if there is an approprate design code which should be specified?
Thanks

Tony

RE: Design Code for PE storage tanks

Tony..

I do not believe that a design code exists for small PE tanks, similar to an API design code for metallic tanks (API-650, for example)

Material standards for PE, of course, do exist....

PE tanks are purchased based on the vendor's rep and, sometimes certified by testing.

This has only been my experience.....and I assume you are talking about USA Design Codes

RE: Design Code for PE storage tanks

Design code for PE storage tanks is ASTM D1998-97. All of our tanks are manuf to this ASTM; both crosslinked polyethylene and linear poly.

Our spec for single wall tanks is online at www.kefco.com/KEFSpec.html
Our spec for double wall tank ass'ys is also online
www.kefco.com/uptspec.html

A link to the ASTM specification is also online at
www.kefco.com a submenu of Technical Papers.
