Can't return license

Can't return license

Can't return license

(OP)
Okay, this sucks.
I had major problems and had to reformat my hard drive. Prior to reformatting, I'd borrowed a license (it's a laptop, I work from home). Now that I've finally got my machine working again (boy, is that a long story), the SolidNetWork License Administrator shows me as still having a license, but won't let me return it. Now this wouldn't be a big deal, but it's our SW premium license that I have and the other engineer needs it so he can use COSMOS.
Any ideas??

RE: Can't return license

Jeff,
We had the same thing happen to us. We had to reformat the hard drive. I called our VAR, explained what happened. They reset the license at their end and we go back up and running. Your VAR is the only one that can fix this problem.

I called my VAR and they didn't know what to do...
What is it that the VAR does that resets a network license?

Question: My hard drive died. If I didn’t deactivate (transfer) the software license, will I be able to reinstall the product and reactivate it?

Answer: The software will successfully reactivate in most cases. If your attempt to reactivate fails, please contact your Reseller Support for help.

cheers

RE: Can't return license

Get a new VAR, this is a common problem when running FlexLM.  I run my Pro/E license that way and have had this type of problem.

Yes, but PTC and UGS tell you that returning a borrowed license early is NOT supported.
