SHEET METAL BUG?

SHEET METAL BUG?

SHEET METAL BUG?

(OP)
I'd like someone to confirm this for me, before I report a bug...

Create a simple sheet metal part.
In the CONFIGURATION MANAGER, right-click the DEFAULT config.
Select PROPERTIES.
Select CUSTOM PROPERTIES.
Under PROPERTY NAME, pull-down DESCRIPTION.
Under VALUE/TEXT EXPRESSION, pull-down THICKNESS.
With your cursor at the end of: "Thickness@Default@Part1.SLDPRT"...
Type something like "SHEET" (any text will do).
See what you get for EVALUATED VALUE.

Does this work right for you?

Thanks...

But what you should see (in VALUE/TEXT EXPRESSION) is "0.105 SHEET" or similar.

Try the same thing with MASS or MATERIAL & see if your results compare.

Thanks again...

RE: SHEET METAL BUG?

Ohh, I understand now, sorry.

Yes, I would say that is a bug.

cheers

RE: SHEET METAL BUG?

I wouldn't say it's a bug so much as a limitation or omission.  "Thickness" is not a SolidWorks evaluated property like the mass properties are.  It's a named global variable.  Any named global variable used in properties can't have text after it or it won't evaluate properly.

Oh... I see...

If I double-click the dinemsion of the feature: "Thickness@Sheet-Metal1@@Default@Part1.SLDPRT"... then I get what I want.

Thanks for pointing that out handleman.

...no bug then.
