Details of integration points

Details of integration points

Details of integration points

(OP)
If somebody can tell me how to get the locations at the integration points of an element and stress and strain at each of them (inside a perticular element not the closest to a node as given in the manual), it will be very helpful.

Thank you very much.

RE: Details of integration points

Hi,
1- the locations of the integration points are known once the nodal locations are known and also of course the element formulation. This info I think you can find in the Theory Manual.
2- This is a thing you can ask directly to ANSYS (plot/list stresses at integration points directly transfered to the nodes), but I never tried to "*GET" this with the APDL command.

Regards

Thanks for the information. In Ansys theory manual, the location of integration points is given in some dimensionless form and in the element coordinates. If I want to know the location in global coordinates, do I have to do the calculations myself?

RE: Details of integration points

Hi,
yes, I believe so. The dimensionless form should be the most useful, I think, but it depends how you prefer to handle coordinates' matrices...

Regards
