Holes in Revolved Surface

Holes in Revolved Surface

Holes in Revolved Surface

(OP)
I have a fairly simple revolved surface.  Lets pretend it is a coffe can complete with ridges for the sake of conversation.  I want to put a 1" hole thru this surface.  An example for location would be- if the coffe can was in a vise with its vertical axis perpendicular to the back jaw- I want to drill (draw) a hole straight thru it from top to bottom.  This seems like it should be easy but I can't get any features to be available for poking a hole in this puppy.

Thanks,

Steve

RE: Holes in Revolved Surface

Yes it is easy! What are doing to try and make it?

If I understand the way you have the can positioned, I would make a plane in the center of can making it parellel to direction of the hole. Then make the sketch in the Center of the Can and cut-Extrude using a Mid-plane. Make the Distance wide enough to where it cuts both sides (if that is what you desire).

I hope that helps,

Yes, I see it is easy.  I was not controlling the direction 2 depth.

Thanks,

Steve
