Dynamic dust seal

Dynamic dust seal

Dynamic dust seal

(OP)
Looking for a "felt-type" seal that would be stationary with a nylon piece somewhat compressed on the seal and cycling back and forth.  The main objective of this seal is to keep fine dust from getting past the seal.

The seal material needs to be compressed, yet with a very low coefficient of friction with the nylon component that is cycling back and forth on the seal.

Any ideas of good seal material?

Thanks

RE: Dynamic dust seal

To keep fine dust out on a mill I have seen a labyrinth seal used with a back pressure (compressed air) to keep the dust out of the gearbox. This may be an option.

RE: Dynamic dust seal

I have seen and heard very positive use of a seal made by Transcom Inc. It is called the TRAKSEAL, and it is based on a labyrinth but not using compressed air.

Transcom Inc. 1800-328-2840

I hope this helps.
